The Dad Life build was been created by Matt Bleasby. You can find more information about the build on the website or in the Facebook group
This is a 1.2GB download and the wizard will overwrite any settings you currently have. So any sub menu sections, favourites, accounts (e.g. Trakt in Genesis) etc. will all be wiped. Make a full backup if you want to be able to return to your original setup.
To Install:
- Open Kodi
- Select SYSTEM > File Manager
- Select Add Source
- Select None
- Type the following EXACTLY http://kodiuk.tv/wizard and select Done
- Highlight the box underneath Enter a name for this media Source & type dadlife
- Select OK
- Go back to your Home Screen
- Select SYSTEM
- Select Add-Ons
- Select Install from zip file
- Select dadlife
- Select KODIUKTVWizard.zip
- Wait for Add-on enabled notification
- Go back to your Home Screen
- Select Programs (screenshot shows apps – it’s the same thing)
- Select KodiUK TV Wizard
- Select Dadlife
The wizard will now begin the installation which could take a while; so pour yourself a drink and relax whilst it installs.
The build has been created using the Arctic: Zephyr skin. An excellent skin to make the build around. The main menu is clean with very few links compared to some builds making it quick to navigate: TV Guide; Movies; TV Shows; Sports; Kids; Music; YouTube; Add-Ons. The submenu is hidden in the build you just need to activate it under each section to see the add-ons.
The default volume seems to be set at -36db so you will need to change this when you have finished the install.
Genesis has VK and Alluc disabled so you may want to enable them if they work for you as these are excellent sources which, for me, work perfectly.
TV Guide
The TV guide uses iVue but you will need to run the guide fixes to get the program list to show on the first run otherwise you may only see ‘Program Unavailable’
The submenu contains: UK Turk; Filmon; Jekyll-Hyde; iPlayer (geo); ITV Player (geo); Soap Catchup; cCloud; Gorilla; Dexter; VdubT25; Phoenix
Movies
The movie section has a custom widget above that is populated with your films favourite you have marked as a ‘Favourite’ in Genesis.
Selecting the Movies link will take you into Genesis
The submenu consists of: Genesis; Genesis Featured Movies; Genesis (Most Popular); Genesis (In Theaters); Genesis (Oscar Winners); SALTS Movies
TV Shows
The TV Shows also has a custom widget and again this uses Genesis to populate the widget with your favourite TV Shows.
Selecting the TV Shows link takes you into Genesis
The submenu consists of: Genesis; Genesis (People Watching); Genesis (Most Popular); Genesis (Highly Rated); SALTS TV Shows
Sports
Unlike the other sections there is no artwork here; the main screen is blank. There is a custom widget that is populated with highlights of recent football matches which is a nice touch. The widget is populated using the Football King add-on which seems to offer highlights from all the major leagues and European games too.
Selecting the Sports link does not take you into an add-on
The submenu consists of: SportsDevil; NJM; Phoenix; Extreme Sports; Gorilla (P2P); Dexters (Sports Channels link broken due to changes in Dexter); Daffys Sports List (Broken)
Kids
The kids section has a custom widget that is populated with animated films from Genesis with a release date of September 2014 to September 2015.
Selecting the Kids link does not open an add-on but instead takes you into the Pictures section
The submenu consists of: Genesis Kids; Genesis Family; Cartoon8; Watch Cartoon Online
Music
This section has no artwork or widget on the main screen.
Selecting the Music link takes you into the MP3 Streams add-on
The submenu consists of: MP3 Streams; MP3 Streams (Top Albums); MP3 Streams (New Albums); MP3 Streams (Favourite Albums); MP3 Streams (Favourite Artists); Music Add-Ons
YouTube
YouTube takes you to the YouTube add-on. If you have a YouTube account you can sign in for quick access to your subscriptions, playlists etc.
There is no submenu as this is solely for quick access to YouTube.
AddOns
The add-ons submenu is setup for quick access for the different types of add-ons: Program; Video; Music. This makes it easier than having to go to a separate section to find the type of add-on you are looking for each time you are something.
Unlike a lot of builds the main menu and their submenu’s are not over-populated with links to broken add-ons. Add-ons haven’t been installed for the sake of having the add-ons.
As the tag line suggests this is designed to be a family build so you won’t get any x rated add-ons installed which young family members could click on if left unattended.
