RPi user workaround
- Install the spotify client on a pc with a browser
- Open the spotify client and accept the authentication request in the browser.
- Navigate to kodi userdataaddon_dataplugin.audio.spotify and copy the cache file to the same location on your pi
This is a beta add-on that requires a premium Spotify account and also a web browser on your Kodi device as you will need to authorise the add-on to use your Spotify account.
The add-on utilises the new Web Api for Spotify, this means that all functionality is available as you can see in the other Spotify apps like “Your music” library, editing playlists etc.
The dev has tried to implement a web browser autodetect for all platforms. If it doesn’t work on your platform then you will need to report it.

- Download the Emby Repo zip file and save to a location you can easily access from your Kodi device
- Open Kodi
- Select SYSTEM
- Select Add-Ons
- Select Install from zip file
- Navigate to where you downloaded the zip in the first step and select repository.beta.emby.kodi-1.0.5.zip
- Wait for Add-on enabled notification
- Select Install from repository or Get Add-Ons on Helix
- Select Kodi Emby Beta Addons
- Select Music Add-Ons
- Select Spotify
- Select Install
- Wait for Add-on enabled notification
- Select Spotify
- Select Configure
- Add your Spotify Username and Password and select OK
- Go back to your Home Screen
- Select Music > Add-Ons
- Select Spotify
- THE ADD-ON WILL NOT OPEN
- You will now have to back out of Kodi and check your web browser as you will need to login to Spotify
- You must now authorise the add-on so it has access to your Spotify account
- You should now be able to open the add-on in Kodi and have access to your Spotify account
Spotify is now installed and as usual the add-on can be accessed via MUSIC > Add-Ons > Spotify from your home screen.
