Here is a guide for watching the NHL on Kodi. Many will have seen a link in Phoenix to Hockey games but clicking on the link you wouldn’t have seen any games. This is because you need to install certain Java files to your computer/device before you can do it.
The guide below I have taken from Kodi Tips so thanks to them for that.
To install the necessary Java files use the following guides. These guide assume you already have Phoenix installed. If you don’t then use this guide to install it
Rasberry Pi 1/2 and Linux 64 (Chromebox) Java Setup Guide
- Navigate to SYSTEM > Services > Webserver > Make sure it is set on and to port 8080.
- Navigate to SYSTEM > Appearance > International > Change your region to be your correct location.
- From the Kodi main menu, navigate to SYSTEM > File Manager > Add Source
- Select None and type the following: http://fusion.tvaddons.ag and select Done
- Highlight the box underneath Enter a name for this media Source & type fusion
- Select OK and go back to your Home Screen
- To install the VinMan java files: Select SYSTEM > Add-Ons > Install from zip file > fusion > xbmc-repos > English > repository.VinManJSV-x.x.x.zip
- Wait for Add-on enabled notification and then select Install from repository
- Select VinManJSV Repo > Program Add-ons.
- Here, you will find the java files for the Raspberry Pi 1 and 2, as well as a “Java64” file which is for any box running OpenELEC. Click on your appropriate java file and install it and wait for the add-on enabled notification.
- Navigate to your Program Add-ons and launch the Java file you installed above once to install the files.
- Reboot Kodi.
Mac Java Setup Guide
- Download and install Text Wrangler. If you already have something like Sublime Text installed then you don’t need to.
- Open a new text document and add the following sudo python /Users/your-username/Library/Application Support/Kodi/addons/plugin.video.phstreams/jars/FuckNeulionService.py and save this document somewhere you will remember. Name this document Hockey.command
- In your Finder window, click Go on the top status bar, click Go To Folder and enter /private/etc/hosts . Locate the hosts file and drag a copy of it to your desktop.
- Right click on the hosts file on your desktop and open it up in a text application, such as Text Wrangler and insert this into the desktop copy: 127.0.0.1 nlsk.neulion.com and save this file.
- Delete the original hosts file in your /private/etc/hosts folder and drag in the modified version. If it asks you for permission to delete and an authentication password, enter it in.
- Next, click on Finder and at the top bar click Utilities and then Terminal. Enter in the following code: chmod +x /users/your-username/desktop/Hockey.command and adjust the command if your file is saved somewhere else. Hit enter and then you can close the terminal window.
- When you want to watch hockey, double click on the Hockey.command file you created above. This will open a terminal window where you will have to enter in your Mac password and hit enter. Leave your terminal window open and now you can watch NHL on Kodi in the Phoenix add-on under NHL. Just pick your game and enjoy! When the game is done, close out of Kodi and close terminal.
Window Setup Guide
Note: Not all Windows processors may be supported at this time, but the large majority should be able to get this working.
- Navigate to My Computer > C:WindowsSystem32Driversetc. Copy the hosts file to your desktop.
- Right click on the hosts file on your desktop, click Open With, and then Notepad
- Add the following line to the hosts file: 127.0.0.1 nlsk.neulion.com and save the file.
- Copy the hosts file back to its original folder above and overwrite the existing file.
- Make sure your Java is updated and then you will be able to watch NHL on Kodi! You only have to do these steps once and then you are good to go.
