This guide no longer shows how to install Pulsar. This guide is for installing Quasar which is a fork of Pulsar and works exactly as Pulsar did. This guide uses a pre-release rather than the official release of Quasar as the official release is taking around 30mins to download and it is only 39MB. The pre-release is working fine from what I have seen.
Quasar is a fork of the Pulsar add-on. As with Pulsar the add-on uses P2P to stream content (if you don’t know what this means then you probably shouldn’t use it) and it browses media from TheMovieDB and TVDB.
The add-on requires providers to work. The unofficial Pulsar repo has Quasar providers and this guide gives a link to that too.
Supported Platforms
- Windows
- Linux 32/64 bits (starting Ubuntu 12.04)
- Linux ARM (Raspberry Pi, Cubox i4pro etc…)
- OS X 64 bits
- Android ARM and x64
As this uses P2P I would recommend using a VPN with it. You can get 25% off any package from IPVanish using the checkout code SEOM
- Open Kodi
- Select SYSTEM
- Select Services
- Select Remote Control
- Enable Allow remote control by programs on this system & Allow remote control by programs on other systems
- Download the Quasar Zip File and save to a location you can easily access from your Kodi device
- Download the Unofficial Pulsar Repo & save to a location you can easily access from your Kodi device
- Go back to your Home Screen
- Select SYSTEM
- Select Add-Ons
- Select Install from zip file
- Navigate to where you downloaded the Quasar zip file and select plugin.video.quasar-0.9.1-alpha.5.zip
- Wait for Add-on enabled notification
- You may also see the Quasar daemon started notification
- Select Install from zip file again
- Navigate to where you downloaded the Unofficial Pulsar Repo zip and select repository.pulsarunofficial-1.0.1.zip
- Wait for Add-on enabled notification
- Select Install from repository
- Select Pulsar Unofficial Repo
- Select Program add-ons
- What you are doing now is selecting providers to use. I will just install 1 but you can install any you wish. Some will probably be blocked by your ISP so you may not get results when you use them. But if you have a VPN that will help you overcome blocking from your ISP
- Select a Provider. The only providers that work with this are all named Quasar xxxxx
- Select Install
- Wait for Add-on enabled notification
- Repeat the process for any other providers you wish to install
- Reboot
Quasar should now be setup and ready to use.
